Paying Off Your Debt The Easiest Way

Paying Off Your Debt The Easiest Way

A major problem for many people nowadays is that it is easy to know that you have a debt problem but very to know precisely how large the problem is. In fact you could be surprised to find that a very significant proportion of those people with a debt problem do not have any idea how much they owe or how much in total they are paying out in interest charges on their loans each month. So, the first job in sorting out your debt is to work out precisely how large the problem is.

Write down all the debts which you currently have, noting down how much of the original debt remains outstanding and how much you are having to pay each month. You also need to separate out every payment to see how much of the payment represents a repayment of the original loan and how much is merely interest.

You may well be taken aback by what you discover, not only in terms of how much money you owe, but in terms of how much of your monthly income is simply being used to meet interest payments. For example, if you earn $4,000 a month and are having to pay $400 each month simply in interest charges then this means that you are paying out 10% of your monthly income without reducing the total amount you owe. If this sounds bad enough, then take it one stage further. If $400 is the maximum you can afford to pay out each month then you can continue paying this sum for years without your debt going down at all.

With a bit of luck the balance between the sum that you are having to pay in interest charges and the sum being used to repay your original loans will be reasonable and it is difficult to quantify just what this should be as it will change from one loan to another. For example, in a typical home loan it is not unreasonable to be paying 90% interest and 10% principle in the starting years of a mortgage, but you assuredly do not want to be doing this with your credit card debt.

Once you have discovered the extent of the problem the next thing you need to do is to construct a plan to pay down your debt as quickly as you can. For this you are going to need to calculate how much in total you can afford to pay each month and then work out how this sum should be applied to your various debts.

One possible solution is sometimes referred to as the ’snowball’ method and involves clearing your smaller debts. You will then have more money available to pay off your other debts and can progressively work your way up to your largest debt.

A second solution to the problem is to tackle the largest debt initially and thus save the greatest amount of money in in essence wasted interest payments. However, this is not an easy method and progress tends to be slow making it difficult to keep to this particular plan.

Whichever course you follow you cannot just ignore one or more of your debts while paying off the others or you will run into trouble with your creditors and adversely affect what may already be a damaged credit record. If meeting at least the minimum payment on all your debts then you must talk to the lenders in question and see whether they can assist. Almost all lenders will have a debt reduction settlement program and they will normally agree to help you by accepting lower payments for a short period of time, or even to waive your payments for a couple of months, as long as you explain your situation to them.

If you find yourself in a mess and are trying to figure out how to get out of debt then do not make things even worse than they already are by taking on more debt. This might seem to be obvious but you would be surprised by how many people try to borrow their way back into the black. This does not work and simply makes a bad situation far worse.

A Professional Approach to Car Wash

A Professional Approach to Car Wash

Having a clean car obviously keeps the car looking newer longer. But there are other, more technical reasons to keep one’s car clean. Dust, sand, salt in the winter – all of these are miniscule, abrasive particles that attach themselves to the paint and finish. If one’s car is not washed on a regular basis, these particles can literally scratch the finish of the car. Some substances such as bird droppings or tree sap can even eat through the clear coat, leaving the finish unprotected and vulnerable to additional wear and tear.

Most people claim to wash their car more than once a month. Ultimately, keeping the exterior of one’s car clean not only makes the car look nicer and keeps it looking newer; it also protects it from real damage that can be done over time.

What is the best way to wash one’s car?
There are really two options for washing one’s car – doing it at home or taking it to a professional car wash center – whether it is self-serve or automatic. Most people think the way to give their car the best wash possible is the “old-fashioned” way – in the driveway, at home. And while that can prove to be a fun afternoon activity, it can actually be quite harmful to both the car and the environment. However, taking one’s car to a professional carwash can ensure a safe and thorough cleaning as well as provide the means to protect the environment around us.

If we use everyday towels or rags from around one’s home to wash and dry their car, we are not aware of the fact that there is a definite chance that the finish of the car will get damaged. But the fact is that this can be avoided by having a set of 100% cotton towels that we can use only use for washing one’s car. Wash them only in liquid detergent, and never use one after dropping it on the ground. This will help alleviate scratching, but cannot guarantee eliminating it all together. Many professional washes offer “touch less” options – where the car is cleaned by a powerful blast of water – and no cloth or other friction material ever touches the surface. Washes that do use brushes, called “friction” washes, only use materials or cloth that are engineered to wick dust, sand and grime away from the surface, therefore protecting your finish from scratching or damage. In fact, there have been great advances in the types of materials available for friction washes, including soft foam brushes specifically designed to protect one’s car.

There are also environmental concerns to consider when choosing where to wash one’s car. Most people who wash their cars at home do so in their driveways or out on the street. The water runs directly into the storm sewers in the street.

Professional car wash centers are built to provide appropriate drainage that ensures harmful chemicals do not make it into the local storm sewer system. In fact, many of them filter the water they use, and often recycle it. Also, washing one’s car at home can use up to 100 gallons of water per wash.
No matter what ever car wash system one uses, it is a must that the car wash does not pollute the environment and it really helps in conserving water, especially in those areas where water is really scarce.

Car Deer Collisions in the United States

Car Deer Collisions in the United States

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates there are approximately 1.5 million auto deer collisions per year, resulting in damage losses of around $1.5 billion USD, which works out to an average cost of $1,000 per accident. State Farm Insurance Agency also supports these statistics, and goes on to report that, in the year 2004, there were 150 human deaths in the United States that were directly linked to car deer accidents.

The bear is often considered to be one of the most dangerous animals in North America. As a combined group, polar bears, black bears, and grizzly bears are responsible for 5 to 10 human fatalities per year in North America. Comparing this statistic with the 150 human deaths caused in 2004 by auto deer collisions, one might come to the conclusion that the most dangerous animal in North America is, in fact, the White Tail Deer.

An insurance study conducted by State Farm Insurance in 2004 and 2005 indicates the ten states with the most deer hits per year are as follows:

1. Pennsylvania
2. Michigan
3. Illinois
4. Ohio
5. Georgia
6. Minnesota
7. Virginia
8. Indiana
9. Texas
10. Wisconsin

Statistically, most car deer accidents occur between the months of October and December, which also coincides with the deer’s mating season. It has also been noted that more accidents occur during the night, or anytime between dusk and dawn. This is attributed to the fact that deer are a very nocturnal animal and spend most of their time foraging at night.

With all this information, it’s clear that drivers must take every possible precaution when driving. The following list reviews the top ten ways to keep yourself safe and minimize your chances of a car deer collision when driving:

1. When at all possible, avoid driving between dusk and dawn.

2. Try to avoid rural roads and poorly lit areas.

3. Be particularly vigilant when driving through areas with high foliage or low hanging branches on the roadside. If there are two people in the car, ask your passenger for help watching the sides of the road.

4. Reduce your speed, and don’t overdrive your lights. The most common remark people make after they’ve been in a car deer collision is that the animal “came out of nowhere.”

5. If you see one deer on the side of the road and you’re fortunate enough not to hit it, be sure to slow down, because where there is one deer, there will often be others.

6. Always wear your seatbelt.

7. Use high beam headlights as much as possible to light the sides of the roadway.

8. Do not ride motorcycles in areas with high deer populations. Riding a motorcycles leaves you much more vulnerable to serious injury in an accident than does driving a car.

9. Finally, if a collision with a deer is eminent, brake and hold the wheel straight. Too often, drivers swerve trying to avoid the animal, and drive off the road or into the path of another car. These accidents can often be more serious than hitting the deer would have been.

10. If you do hit a deer, stay in your car until help arrives. If the deer is still alive, it may be stunned and could become very aggressive if aroused.

If you drive a great deal in the United States, especially in areas with high deer population, you are at risk of hitting a deer. However, with these guidelines in mind and a good dose of common sense, you can reduce that risk and keep yourself and your passengers safe.

30 people a year killed at work due to poor electrical testing

30 people a year killed at work due to poor electrical testing.

If you work in one of the grander offices in London it is worth discovering what your businesses policy is for Portable Appliance Testing ( PAT Testing ). Every piece of machinery in the office and work place should be checked to ensure it is in line with the Electricity at Work Regulations 1998 which states that “As may be necessary to prevent danger, all systems shall be maintained so as to prevent so far as reasonably practicable, such danger.” Fundamentally this means that every piece of electrical equipment that has a plug on it needs to be regularly checked to ensure its continued safety in the work place and as is often the case may have been over looked. Any piece of electrical gear that has been PAT tested will have a PAT testing sticker attached to it saying when the gear was checked and which company checked it.

Not only does this help show in the case of an accident that the employer has been looking out for its employees but also ensures that any faults will not be the origin of a loss of life or fire in the work premises. The alternative reasons this is advisable is that if you are ever visited by health and safety officers or fire officers the initial things they will probably ask you for is to look at your Portable Appliance Testing records. The provision and use of work equipment regulations state that “every employer shall ensure that work equipment is so constructed or adopted as to be suitable for the purpose for which it is used or provided”. Legal speak but when it comes down to it, it basically means that if you use unsafe equipment at work you are at fault.

Anually there are about 1000 incidents in the work place that involve electric shocks or burns, and these are just the ones that are reported to the Health and Safety Executive. About 30 of the incidents are terminal. With insurance businesses tightening the policy that they put forward to businesses with more and more limitations to payouts. Health & Safety standards and ISO standards are gradually getting stricter as to what is adequate in the work place and most businesses need to ensure that they are complying with their fire risk assessment responsibilities.

Basically this boils down to the fact that person has a responsibility to make sure that they are attentive of the gear they are working with, and if there are no stickers on your gear saying whether it has been safety checked. Speak to one of your bosses or call a local PAT testing company to ensure you and the people you work with stay safe.
